According to DPC’s website (www.dpcma.com), “At the Summit, we heard ideas and recommendations from over 300 providers, advocates, consumers and family members for how state government, non-profit human services organizations, and the private sector might work together to further a progressive human services agenda.”
I had the opportunity to read Governor Patrick’s remarks (http://www.mass.gov/Eeohhs2/docs/eohhs/summit_patrick.pdf) and here is one of his points:
“Our collective creativity has to meet today’s challenges. If we need to
streamline or combine services, let’s do that. We all know that consumers of all ages want more choice. Research tells us more choice gives more satisfaction and, frequently, savings” (p.5)
This message tells us that he encourages an idea of combining services to save money. Remember, he gave his remarks at the Summit hosted by the EOHHS which oversees MCDHH, MCB, MRC, and other agencies. So, the EOHHS is fully aware of his expectations and will base its decisions on his priorities.
