I learned that there is a similar situation in RI. A few years ago, the State of RI wanted to merge the RI Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing with one of its state departments, Elder Affairs. The merger failed, eventually, and you know why? The community spoke up.
So, we can do the same!
